The Transgender Day of Remembrance (or TDOR) is an annual vigil held on November 20th and serves to honor the transgender people we have lost to anti-transgender violence, shed light on the cases that remain unsolved, and finally raise awareness to the fatal violence that disproportionately effects transgender people – specifically black transgender women.
This workshop includes a moment of silence, education on the history of TDOR, celebration of LGBTQIA2S+ advocates and activists, and includes a discussion on the importance of allyship for the LGBTQIA2S+ community. After this workshop, everyone should leave with:
- A baseline understanding of the Transgender Day of Remembrance
- An understanding of the importance of allyship and advocacy
- Actionable steps to show up in allyship for the LGBTQIA2S+ community, and especially queer and trans folks
